Please join us in congratulating Ms. Grace Albright, TRIP Lab Graduate Assistant, in being selected as a Society for Public (SOPHE)/CDC Student Fellow in Injury Prevention for 2020-21. The fellowship recognizes, assists, and trains students working on research or practice-based projects in unintentional injury prevention from the perspective of health education or the behavioral sciences. Ms. Albright’s project, Behavioral Science Approach to Reduce Motor Vehicle Injuries: Parent-Teen Interactions During Autonomous Driving, will examine parent-teen interactions during an autonomous vehicle takeover task. Her work will help public health professionals understand the extent to which parents influence their teens’ driving behavior as well as inform parent-based safety interventions. The translation of her study results could help parents understand the critical role they play in their teens’ driving behaviors and teach both parents and teens about the importance of driver safety during the new age of autonomous vehicles.
