The TRIP Lab is dedicated to community outreach to build relationships with teen and adolescent drivers and community leaders; to make a positive impact on the lives of at-risk driving groups; and to increase awareness of safety on our roadways

Outreach Partnerships

Outreach efforts would be impossible without partnerships with fellow stakeholders including – but not limited to – the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham, the Alabama Department of Transportation, Honda, State Farm, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Children’s Hospital of Alabama, AAA of Alabama, the Alabama ABC Board, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, as well as local law enforcement and schools. It is strong partnerships that make it possible for the TRIP Lab to engage the community and help reduce transportation-related morbidity and mortality.

On-site Outreach

Tours of the TRIP Lab are temporarily suspended while we await the construction of our new driving simulator facility! Check back here for details.

Off-Site Outreach

The TRIP Lab offers outreach programs that can be brought to YOU and personalized for the needs of YOUR group!

Additionally, you do not have to travel to our lab for a simulated driving experience. Our portable driving simulator allows us to bring a unique, enlightening event to your transportation safety program. The portable driving simulator tests reaction times, realistically simulates distracted driving scenarios, demonstrates driver attention to driving laws, measures brake reaction time, and reveals how quickly hazards can occur. Most importantly, it is able to accomplish these things in a safe, ethical manner.
